Thanks girls! You two are the best! So sweet! I love the card and the neoprint. Aww. We all look so cute there. Hehe. And who added 'Sistersong'? Must be Arlin. I love it by the way. Thank you for all your wishes and everything. It really means a lot to me. I love you girls! And thanks again to Ma and Ba and Mel for birthday wishes.

I have to work today, but you know what? It's okay. Jonas woke me up this morning with a surprise breakfast in bed and I got chocolates too! Whee! We'll probably celebrate and do something together sometime this week.

I haven't written in awhile so I'm gonna upload some piccies. By the way, Arlin those Finnish sticks look damn yummy. And Arnee should upload another dance video! I love watching your moves girl!

I have some pics and a video with Aslan, the naughty boy. I took the pics a few weeks ago cause I thought he looked so funny. And the video was taken the day before when he was in some weird 'I want to play' mood. Aslan is also very kaypoh nowadays. He goes out almost everyday and chills and plays by himself. Yesterday however, I saw him trying to go into the hedge and looking all curious. And when I opened the door, I heard the neighbour's dog barking at Aslan! And what did he do? Nothing. He meowed a little bit at me when he saw me, like he was complaining why the doggy was barking at him but he wasn't scared or anything.

I also made prata the other day cause I've been having such cravings! It's actually not that hard and my pratas turned out pretty good, although they're not the same as the ones the Mamas make back home of course! Ooooh when I come back I'm going to eat pratas like crazy!

And Arnee's prata special and Campbell's soup :) And I want to eat at Zamzam and all the Banquet restaurants and hmm. I want Milo Dino and Maggi and Horlicks! What else eh? Charkuey! And tauhuay and takopachi octopus balls..hehe...and hmm...Nasi ayam and nasi lemak and nasi goreng kampong and nasi sambal goreng Afghanistan and ackkkkk I can't stop! Me want food!

Finnish Sticks

I decided to bake today...cause it has been quite some time since I did that...and my nails are kinda screwy and chipped now anyway....so I didn't really mind doing some work in the kitchen. :D Hm...I didn't expect them to expand and get all huge though...so my cookies should probley be called Finnish squares/rectangles instead of sticks.

Anyway thank you Nene for the recipe...I have finally made use of the bitter almonds and pearl sugar! I really wonder why we can't get those bitter almonds here...and does it really make a difference?...I tried tasting it earlier...it doesn't seem all that bitter. But for the cookies this time I used the whole bitter almonds instead of the essence. I didn't take a pic cause they looked like regular almonds to me :p

Oh and thank you again for the song...I absolutely love it..listening to it right now...I love 'Plumb'...the song was from this movie I watched earlier on dvd...its called 'The Perfect Man'. I actually enjoy watching Hilary Duff movies!...hehe....I've already seen two this week. :p

its been quite a long time since i wrote in the blogg.

lol. okay. i've just been fighting with people that are inconsiderate like some friends of mine.

i don't think i would even want to call them friends. the song over it by katharine mcphee relates to how i'm feeling right now. with me and my friends. or friend. well anyway..don't care about me..blah blah blah. me and kak arlin have been playing a game called matching star. its fun. cause you have to match famous people. and of course kak arlin keeps winning. i've only won once.

Whee....the blog is back to normal. Well I suspected it was the wedding video that caused the template to get all screwed up so I just removed that and yep...everything IS actually back to normal..yay! hehe so everyone can start writing again. :D

I just came home from work and had to write this down before I forgot. With my older students, we've been exploring the theme of Budaya/tradisi Melayu (Malay culture/tradition) and today we read a bit about Hang Tuah. I can't believe how interested they were. It was hard for them reading everything in Malay and then answering my questions when they'd never even heard of Hang Tuah before. And still they were interested in discussing their opinions about the whole Tuah/Jebat/Sultan Mahmud tragedy. And then we discussed Hang Tuah's oath: "Tak Melayu hilang di dunia" and what he meant and what it meant to be Malay. I was really touched by how they claimed that they were Malay, despite having been born here and not really knowing the language or practising the culture daily. And yet many of us, born and raised by Malay parents, with Malay names and living in countries where the Malay culture and tradition is so very much alive and a part of everyday life, claim that our Malay sucks and how we can't speak Malay and that we're not REALLY Malay, we're mixed or whatever. Maybe Hang Tuah's wrong and Malay will hilang di dunia someday....

same place... then after that we took neoprints and khaili and kris paid them! hahahaha. then after that we went home. and when we were going kristine hugged me so tight! i really felt like crying actually. but i didn't. cause we're so close. i remember the picture i took with her in primary 5.

ooh! i was a very very naughty girl then...muahahahahahahaha!!! i'm going to miss her so much! TWOWENTZHILL 4 EVA!!!!!!

Back from KL...

Went to Malaysia over the weekend for Abg Erin's wedding...it was alright I suppose...just too warm and there were sooo many people. His wife is really sweet...but I don't remember her name. Oh there were plenty of Singaporeans at the wedding of course...*rolls 8)*...Nurul was there and she looked really annoying. Very Minah feeling...Thankfully Aunty Mandy and Uncle Fendi were there...cause most of the other S'poreans were like from Uncle Salleh's side...(Cik Mail, Madi etc...remember Wardah and stuff Nene?..oh Tok Ngah and his kids were there too i think) But who cares....I was just glad I got to shop a bit...although I only managed to get 4 pairs of shoes...hehe and we managed to avoid the relatives on Saturday night cause Ba wasn't feeling well...so he stayed at the hotel and ordered room service and Ma and me went out for a nice dinner and we went shopping without Ba around...which is obviously more fun..hm...hope he doesn't read this :D

I've been really good these past few days. Well actually just yesterday cause I've actually been out working in the garden! Just like my arwah yayi who ngotemed a lot! That's very rare for me because I'm so lazy to go outside and I figure why bother cleaning up the outside of my house when I can hardly be bothered to clean up the inside. Well nevermind all that because I actually did it! And I have proof too!

Well first I took a 'before' picture of the tree, whose branches I was going to trim. Since we moved here we've hardly cut the branches of the tree so it looks really scraggly and unkempt. Ours is the only garden that looks like that by the way cause everyone else has picture perfect gardens. Oh well...

I went to work on the tree with a step ladder and a pair of shears. It was actually pretty easy except that I couldn't reach the top-most branches. I think I did a damn good job though except that I was embarrassed everytime a neighbour walked past!

Besides the tree I've also planted some seeds! I don't know if it's too early or whatever but who cares. If they grow, they grow. If they don't I can plant some more. I've planted different kinds of herbs, tomatoes, chili, some kinda salad and cucumber I think cause Ma bought me the seeds when she was here. I'm thinking of getting some flowers too maybe.

Ohh Anna-Karin has gone home now. She went back on Sunday. When she was here I made some cream puffs.

And yesterday I made this chicken pot pie which was actually pretty good except that the crust was probably a bit too thick. But I didn't mind cause I love pie crust. I had some leftoever filling and a little bit of puff pastry so I made 2 mini ones today.

Neneeeeee its been so long since i actually talked to you properly..miss you tau! Ah well....its another bleh Monday evening...i'm not gonna make this such a long post cause I wanna watch 'The Object Of My Affection' on Star Movies...I really love that movie....:D Anyway my weekend was okay...nothing too interesting...went out on Saturday night to St. James Powerstation...well initially we were at Dragonfly....then someplace called Tiger live or Tiger Den...i have no idea...it was called Tiger something...anyway....I didn't really like the music...but it was nice that the clubs were all connected...and that Bernie had some kinda member card...so we didn't have to queue :D I hate queuing up. I can't imagine why people would queue to go to such a crap place....heh...the queues were still soooo long even when we left at around 4am-ish...insane! oh yeah...the place closed at 6am apparently...amazing eh? hehe remember those times when clubs closed at 2..or was it 3? bleh! Anyway....yeah I asked Nina (aka Slemor..haha :p) along since she was in town visiting...

Anyway then on Sunday Ma dragged me to some wedding in Jurong?!...Nina was there too...she was there with Cik Ti and Che Yang...oh yeah..she's here too...Slemor came here with her..do you still remember her Nene? Anyway the wedding was annoying....too many mats...it felt like some kinda mat and minah convention....all these bikes everywhere...ugh. Then in the evening Ba took the M'sians out for dinner...we went to East Coast with all the relatives...yup...that's about it...borrrringgg.

DISNEY ON ICE - FINDING NEMO,

INDOOR STADIUM 16 MARCH 2007

hello! i just came back from the show yesterday night and i thought it was quite wonderful! really nice. i like the part where marlin and dory went into the whale thing. so cool. anyway here are some pictures. i finally got the ice thing. i got it in a nemo. mama wanted me to get squirt(turtle) and kak arlin wanted bruce(shark). but i got nemo. and i also got a hat! i got it free when we bought the cotton candy. that huge bag of cotton candy is really delicious. still not finished yet. and its really very soft. i was still a bit sick. and it was the same night when i went for bowling in the afternoon. i went for the only bowling thing in the afternoon and i felt like fainting when we were doing the drills. i got all dizzy.

The 100th post.

Did anyone realise we've done 99 posts? so I started the first one...and now i'm officially writing the 100th one...okay its not exactly very interesting...but I thought I should just mention it anyway. :D

Anyway....it feels weird writing again..sorry Nene that we haven't written in ages....yeah Ar and I were both really sick last week....we've both been on medication and even had to take blood tests and stuff...hehe thankfully we weren't hospitalised or anything like that..*choy*....and this week i'm finally feeling better....but I haven't really been doing anything much...except work that is...bleh.

Apart from that...oh yeah...I went to my friend, Nisha's wedding last weekend....I just attended the solemnisation ceremony for awhile and then I left...didn't stay around for the dinner cause I didn't feel like it....besides I was alone and still quite sick then....I saw Matt though...(my Dutch teacher)..and Dais....his wife...and I talked to them for a bit....there were a lot of matsalehs at the wedding...that was honestly a bit depressing...so thankfully I didn't stay around too long. I'll include a few pics....I thought Nisha looked really sweet...i can't imagine she's actually married now...

i really can't wait because i think it will be very very very nice. and the best part is that i'm going with kak arlin and MA! then there will be fish people that look like this!



they look so cute. i'm just really excited to see them. and i also want to buy that ice thinggy. cause its very nice. you get ice in a cup that looks like nemo. i wanted the little mermaid one when there was the little mermaid on disney on ice or when they had the princess thing but i couldn't. the last disney on ice i went to was either beauty and the beast or the princess one. i'm not sure. i forgot. well anyway, i'm just very excited cause we're going tomorrow night! yay! that's my holiday treat. its the only fun thing that is going to happen because i've been sick for the whole past week. and i'm sick even for the holidays. it has been very boring for me. and i cancelled the thing with mei yee and gen on saturday. cause mama looked quite disappointed when i asked her if i could go. so i'm not going. anyway, its only to take neoprints and i think mei yee wants to buy someone that crumpler bag. well i don't really care. i don't think it would be that fun anyway. going to nemo would be better. yay! can't wait.

Another boring post

Yep here's another boring one by me. So I still miss you girls like crazy. I've been spending time with Anna-Karin and working and that's basically it. Oh the weather here has been totally wonderful. Really warm and sunny and lovely. I've even gone out with my jacket unzipped and it's been months since we've been able to do that. It still gets to like 0 degrees at night though so it's not really that warm yet. And they've been saying on the weather forecasts that it'll get cold again soon so I guess I have to enjoy all this sunshine while it lasts.

So I think I'm gonna start planting things anyway. It can be pretty fun and I do have lots of garden space. I'm mostly interested in planting stuff I can use in cooking, like herbs and spices and vegetables. But maybe I should get some flowers too. Cause they're always pretty to look at. So we'll see.

Ohh I went for a job interview 2 days ago. It's for a part-time job as a swimming teacher! I thought it'd be really simple basic stuff so that's why I applied for it but now I'm not sure anymore. It was really ages ago since I last went swimming and I don't know a few basic swimming stuff like the butterfly stroke and diving from a platform and hmm what else? Ohh that turn you do at the end of one lap to the next. See I don't even know what it's called. And I'm not sure I want the job cause I definitely don't want to go around in my swimming costume. And they have communal showers here and everyone showers NAKED. Like all my biggest hang-ups combined. Urgh! But we'll see how it goes.

Hmm what else? I've been invited to different international events going on at the schools I'm teaching at. That might be pretty fun. One of the school's gonna have a book picnic. And they want me to read like a fairy tale or something in Malay. Now where am I gonna get a Malay story book here in Sweden?

No wonder no one has been blogging these past few days. Both Ars are sick. And I've just been nagging and whining about no one blogging. Sorry girls. It's just that I miss you loads. Or, less fancily, Chocolate Hazelnut Cake. I finally found 'How To Be A Domestic Goddess' by Nigella Lawson. Its basically this book that I've been looking for all these months...and today I tried out one of the recipes. I just had to pick a chocolate one of course. :)

I was initially a little worried that the cake would not turn out cause there wasn't any flour or sugar required...hehe the recipe did however call for obscene amounts of chocolate. Ohh..apart from the usual melted chocolate...a whole huge jar of Nutella actually went into the batter too! Anyway...the cake actually did rise and I'm pretty excited. Can't wait to cut the cake. Cheryl invited me to join her and some other people at Velvet the other night...and I didn't feel like going but I went anyway cause i've been feeling really bleh the whole week...figured going out would do me good. Arlin, I don't think Arnee's all that upset anymore. Well still a tad disappointed about missing her first big concert of course but I don't think she's all that pissed off that she doesn't want to write in this blog. But then again I don't know how she is at home everyday cause I'm not there. But the last time I spoke to her she told me her friend, some tomboy girl decided to not go to the FOB concert either cause Arnee can't go. And that's a really nice thing to do.

And hey Arnee did blog! Whee! You always so busy ah girl. You have much more of a life than I do! Parties, concerts, cheerleading. It's a wonder you still have time for school and studying and tests. Speaking of which, how'd your common tests go? Susah tak? Hope you get really good results. Insyallah.

"It's been one week since you looked at me, cocked your head to the side and said I'm sorry" and Sugar Ray and Everclear. Ahh the last time I listened to music like that was when I was 18. Damn. Almost 10 years ago. ALMOST, not quite.

Oh and I showered Aslan a few days ago so he smells pretty good now although he's starting to get all scruffy again. And I've been combing him everyday. But yesterday he got really pissed off at me cause I was combing the tangles in his tail real hard and he scratched me! I screamed like a maniac and scolded him. It hurt like hell! And then I kept letting him smell the cuts he left on my right hand. Well they were really small, no blood or anything, but still! He must have felt really bad about that cause when I finally calmed down he jumped in my lap and kept cuddling up to me for a really long time. Stupid cat!

Oh I have been cooking and baking quite a bit as usual. I made pesto on Monday, I think. It was a bit weird. Too garlicky I think and I don't know. Just plain weird. So the next day I kinda modified the recipe and added walnuts and more parmesan and fried it with the pasta and it didn't taste so strong and was actually pretty good. On Wednesday, Jonas made Swedish pancakes with strawberry jam and whipped cream. Really yummy and I forgot to take a pic of that too! But he's making more this weekend so I'll add pics then. And yesterday I made pizza and eclairs.

Oh this I made the day before yesterday. It's White Hot Chocolate. Really really yummy. I got the recipe from joyofbaking.com and made some small changes. It's just white chocolate, vanilla extract, sugar and milk. I blended the dry ingredients first and then boiled the milk and added everything in the blender. Topped it with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder. Delicious.

And this was what we had for dinner yesterday. I've gotten sick of the pizza we have at my restaurant so I decided to make my own. The inspiration was Pizza Hut's pan pizza but I made the crust wrong and too thin instead. But it turned out really good.

We had some salad too. I bought some salad mix and took a pic cause I thought all the different vegetables looked really pretty together.
